President's Message
Welcome to St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor Parish.
St. Andrew's is located on Edmonton's South Side on 75 Street just south of Gretzky Way.
St. Andrew's has been an active component of the Forest Heights/Terrace Heights Community for over 50 years. We serve the Ukrainian Orthodox Faithful of South Edmonton primarily, however our members come from all parts of the City of Edmonton- North, East, West and the surrounding communities of Sherwood Park, County of Strathcona, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc and St. Albert to worship with us.
St. Andrew's is a vibrant and active Parish with worship services every Sunday and major Feast Day. Following Sunday Divine Liturgies we invite those in attendance to join us for fellowship refreshments and a snack. At least once a month we hold Divine Liturgies at St. Andrew's Selo Senior Citizen's home to celebrate feast days with our senior community and provide a fellowship lunch for those who join us in worship. There isn't a day during the week when activities such as Choir, Adult Ukrainian Classes, Ukrainian Dance Classes, Pyrohy Work Bees, Paska Baking, Babka Baking and other baking and traditional food preparation work bees take place. St. Andrew's also hosts other Ukrainian and Ukrainian Orthodox organizations for their executive and general meetings, choir and dance practices.
Once every month on the first Friday, St. Andrew's holds a Pyrohy Supper open to the public. This has become a very popular event with patrons coming from all parts of the city to take in our mouth watering home made Pyrohy. A poster with dates, times and prices is available on this website
The Ladies Auxiliary of St. Andrew's prepares for and holds Tea and Bake Sales prior the Easter and Christmas Feast Days where the traditional Baking and Feast Day foods along with other baked goods are featured and sold to the local and public communities.
The children who are involved in Church School and the Dancing programs participate in a variety of activities in addition to their respective schools. The recognition of St. Nicholas Day in December and the Paska and Pysanka drawing and dyeing workshops are designed to enhance the children's and adults' participation, understanding and appreciation of the religious and cultural significance are two major Feast periods on the Orthodox Calendar- Preparation for the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Crucifixion and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For a complete picture of our Parish please browse through our website by clicking on the various links featuring insights into our history, organizations and services.
We invite you to join us for Sunday Worship at 10:00 a.m. and our Sunday coffee and snack fellowship following the Divine Liturgy.
Glory Be To Jesus Christ! Glory Be Forever!
